BGMAG hosts the UK Premiere of Over da Rainbow PDF  | Print |  E-mail
ImageOver da Rainbow is a hilarious new short film which uses satire to challenge homophobia in hip hop. It will be viewed for the first time in the UK at a BGMAG event in association with Stonewall.

It's New York producers, Jared Lapidus and Shawn Kittelsen, will be in London to talk about the film and its impact in the US, along with a panel of UK gay activists and hip hop aficionados.

The screening, part of the Pride London Festival, will be followed by an opportunity to network and an after party at Work @ Heaven (free entry for film ticket-holders) with a special guest PA in The Star Bar.

The premiere will take place at 6-7pm on Wed 18 June at the Curzon Cinema in Soho (Shaftesbury Avenue).

Warning: This is NOT hilarious!
It would be good if those preparing the premiere of 'Over Da Rainbow' warned those attending that the show is in many ways just as hilarious as 'Boom Bi Bi' or the other homophobic performances issued over the years, and, because of its dubious elements, such as its confused attack on Michael Jackson, is even more shocking. Someone new to LGBT issues, or just coming out, could be seriously upset by this, as I was, even after being assured this unwitting anthem to homophobia was supposed to be a parody. Not funny.

Mr
I watched the film, and i took it for what it was an innocuous parody!! nothing more nothing less..to read any subtext into it would be to divert energy into something that was just a satire!!!. Granted it could have been a pivotal piece of film making e.g(Dl chronicals)or(Queer as folk)But it was what it was!!
